Partner with a Prime

A match-making service between large-companies and small business to help both parties benefit from an SBIR award.

What's the value to me?

If you need help solidifying your application for an SBIR award and want to partner with a large company.

Description & Overview

Prime contractors play a great role in the CT SBIR Program. When a small business is competing for an SBIR award one of the key components of the award is commercialization. The program works with large companies to partner with the small businesses.

By working with a large company as a subcontractor on an SBIR award the small business develops a working relationship with the Prime. In addition, the large company is likely to work with purchase products derived from this new technology from the small business in future contracts.

The process:

  1. SBIR sends out a list of topics of interest to a Prime
  2. You find one (or more topics) you would like to work on
  3. You call the SBIR agency and speak with the TPOC (technical point of contact) to make sure you are on track and still want to pursue the application
  4. You email us with the topic number and description
  5. We give you the Prime's contact information
  6. You call the Prime to see if they are interested in your technology. If so, request a letter of support on their letterhead to be included in your SBIR application
